Well, Schmartboard is a revolutionary prototyping system that allows anyone to be able to solder surface mount components. 

The tracks around the chip seating area are actually like little grooves, that are preloaded with solder.

Imagine you need to use a surface mount chip, but you just dont have the expensive tools that usually go hand in hand with working with surface mount devices. Well, now all you need to do is to drop the chip into the appropriate Schmartboard and when its in the right position you will easily tell as the grooves also serve to hold the chip in the right place.

To complete the job just heat up the solder. Use a decent soldering iron and heat up the solder tracks around the chip one at a time. Theres a tutorial video on most of the product listings too.
