Electroluminescent Materials
Electroluminescent Materials
Electroluminescent materials are able to emit light in response to the application of an electrical current. These materials are often used in rigid and flexible, electronic textile structures and applications such as safety clothing, car dashboards, signage, LCD backlights, and many more.
Electroluminescence (EL) is the generation of light by the use of an electric field. High electric field EL units emit light through the impact of high-energy electrons in luminescent centers in a semi-conducting material.
We stock a range of EL Wire, which is a stiff wire core coated with phosphor and then covered with a protective PVC sheath. When you apply an AC signal to it, it glows!. By applying a coloured plastic shell to make it you can achieve a range of bright colours.
