AVR Microcontroller Development Boards

AVR microcontrollers were first developed in 1996 by Atmel, who has since been acquired by Microchip Technology. These are modified Harvard architecture 8-bit RISC single-chip microcontrollers. AVR was one of the first microcontroller families to use on-chip flash memory for program storage, as opposed to one-time programmable ROM or EPROM, commonly used by other microcontrollers at the time.

AVR microcontrollers are widely used today in many applications, but you'll most commonly find them on the Proto-PIC website in the form of Arduino, Lilypad, and many other development boards.
