Crimp Connectors
Crimp connectors are a common method for securely connecting a terminal to an electrical wire without the use of soldering. A crimp connection creates a mechanically sound and corrosion-resistant interconnect.
Crimping is easier, faster, and often more convenient than soldering, but it’s a common myth that it isn’t as reliable. When done correctly, crimping offers stronger, more reliable connections than soldering. Soldering uses heated metal to join the cable to the connector and in time, a solder joint will degrade, which may cause the connection to fail.
To achieve the most reliable and neatest connection, it is always best to use a crimping tool when attaching crimp connectors to a wire. Although using pliers will work in a pinch (excuse the pun), but this can result in a loose connection that ultimately results in an open circuit.
