Flex and Force Sensors come in a wide variety of sizes, so are can be used for a huge array of projects. The form of these flex and force sensors could be in solid strain gauges, load cells, flexible force-sensitive resistors, or Piezo vibration sensors.

Flex sensor is a kind of sensor which is used to measure the amount of defection otherwise bending. The designing of this sensor can be done by using materials like plastic and carbon. The carbon surface is arranged on a plastic strip as this strip is turned aside then the sensor’s resistance will be changed. Thus, it is also named a bend sensor. As its varying resistance can be directly proportional to the quantity of turn thus it can also be employed like a goniometer. As the sensor is flexed, the resistance across the sensor increases. The resistance of the flex sensor changes when the metal pads are on the outside of the bend (text on inside of bend).

The sensor itself is thin and flexible, but the resistance does not change while being flexed. Resistance changes only when pressure is applied to the round area at the end of the sensor. Transversely to measure lower forces, apply a higher drive voltage, and increase the resistance of the feedback resistor.
