Description
Real Time Clock Module
The SparkFun Real Time Clock (RTC) Module uses the DS13-7 to keep track of the current time as well as the day, month and year we are currently living in! The module will run with the included CR1225 Lithium coin cell battery for a minimum of 9 years (17 years on average!) without any kind of additional or external 5V power supply.
Using I2C you can access the DS1307, SparkFun have pre-written a test-bed program to help provide a launching pad on how to code/interface with the module on any microcontroller using example software I2C and BCD routines.
This new model of the Real Time Clock module from SparkFun finally adds I2C resistors and a larger battery pad to fix the problems with the battery shorting to the board.
