Development Boards
What is a development board?
A development board is a printed circuit board (PCB) with a microcontroller and circuity incorporated to allow rapid development of cool projects. Essentially they take a microcontroller which is like a mini computer and do some of the hard work of wiring the inputs and outputs so you can connect your microcontroller to peripherals more easily. Development boards are often also compatible with an easy to use programming language like Arduino or Python for Raspberry Pi which makes it easier to code your system even if you're unfamiliar with writing software.
What can I do with one?
Well that's a hard question because there's so many things you can do with them! Think of an electronic system you'd like to create and you can probably make it with one of our range of boards. Some projects you could make are a home weather station with some atmospheric sensors or a robot which you can control from an app on your phone - your imagination is the limit. Proto-Pic sell a wide range of development boards which can be used by anyone from beginner to expert engineer - if you're unsure what would be best for you just contact us. We have an experienced team that is happy to help you find the right board for you.
